Banana Republic
The Atrium Expedition
A tangible sense of adventure took over the atrium at Gap Inc.’s San Francisco headquarters recently, as Banana Republic unveiled an immersive installation inspired by heritage exploration and refined outdoor living.
Elevated high above the space, more than fifty suspended lanterns created a floating canopy drawing the eye upward while grounding the environment in texture, and nostalgia.
At the center of the installation, a fully staged canvas tent was surrounded by sculptural moss mounds, layered greenery, vintage-inspired travel props, and styled merchandising moments that entirely transformed the interior from corporate lobby to outdoor dreamscape. The result was firmly aligned with Banana Republic’s strong visual branding perspective, cinematic yet intimate — straddling the line between wilderness and sophistication.
Drop Works was brought in by the Gap, Inc. team, to execute the physical transformation of the space. Every detail was considered through the lens of experience and spatial storytelling — from the rhythm of suspended lanterns overhead to the layered decking and moss mounds underfoot. The installation invited visitors into a world that felt both grounded and aspirational, turning a transitional corporate space into a fully immersive brand moment.
